Trip to Busan:Ā
Straight after coming back to Japan my friends and I took a trip to Busan. We did a lot of activities during these three days. On our first day, we explored the Busan x Sky building which was considered one of the tallest buildings worldwide and home to the tallest Starbucks in the world. We then proceeded to eat at one of the branches of Mipojip which is a seafood restaurant that specializes in marinated crab and seafood. At the end of the day, my friends surprised me as it was my birthday when we landed in Busan. I felt very touched by the moment as I was struggling in terms of not celebrating my birthday with my family (more details later on). The next day we woke up early to ride the Haeundae Blue Line Park cable cars, it was super cute and I enjoyed taking in the views inside the ride. We then walked our way to the Cheongsapo Daridol Observatory to view the ocean. Busan has a lot of beaches and they look spectacular during sunset! We then took a taxi to the Skyline Luge Busan, which is an amusement-type attraction where you slide down a hill obstacle course using a cart. It was quite scary for me at first but then I enjoyed the experience after the fear had settled in my systems LOL. We then took another taxi to Haeundae Beach known for its bridge outlook and then we went to Igidae Cliff Nature Madang. I struggled hiking this portion of the trip as my body is just not made for extensive exercise. The view at the top of this cliff was gorgeous BUT you will never see me hike this again. On the final day of Busan, we went to the famous Biff Street where it was the first time trying Korean Street Food (crazy after 3 months in Korea we finally ate street food) we then went to another famous attraction Gamcheon Culture Village. I thought the area was quite beautiful and I enjoyed looking at the colorful buildings that surround this village. There were also a lot of vendors and snack shops to get souvenirs from Busan. We then took a bus to Songdo Marine Cable Car at Songdo Sky Park, again another grueling hike to get to the top but I am glad my friends and I were able to ride the cars as it was fun seeing the view of the ocean from above. We then proceeded to Huinnyeoul Culture Village. Another village in Busan but I would say they had a lot more to do in terms of shopping and the view of the ocean was just another spectacular of what Busan offered us. We ended the day going to the Miffy Busan Cafe location and when I told you I almost bought a Miffy suitcase I unfortunately held myself back :( The Miffy cafe did offer cute pastries shaped like Miffy and merchandise from the franchise. I bought too much Miffy from Japan so I did not buy a lot from this location. That next morning we headed back to Seoul by Train! Busan is quite a beautiful country and again a quiet one! The people were super friendly and accommodating! Highly recommend going to Busan because it is a MUST when you go to Korea.Ā
Celebrating My Birthday while Abroad: One of the saddest things that I experienced in Korea was knowing I would not be at home with my family for my Birthday. However, I knew this would be something that I couldnāt let get to me as I wanted to study abroad in the Fall so I was mentally prepared when the day came. I felt so grateful for my friends who surprised me on my birthday and made me feel less alone on this day! If you ever feel sad missing out on your birthday back at home just remember people will remember your birthday and that a message from family and friends will always make you feel so much better.Ā
First Time seeing Snow!: On November 26, 2024, it started snowing in South Korea. One of my biggest accomplishments was seeing snow for the very first time in my life. I remember coming home after a hangout with friends and seeing bits and bits of what seemed to be particles falling from the sky. At first, I thought it was rain but then a text message from others studying abroad exclaimed that it was snowing. I looked out the window and saw that it was indeed snowing! I felt so excited to see snow that I ran out of the bus as quickly as I could to immerse myself. It felt of course cold yet very light on my head as I walked back to my dorm. The next day the streets of Seoul were filled with snow up to my ankles! I rushed outside my dorm with my prepared winter attire and just took pics of the scenery around my school. Snow changes a lot of the environment in Seoul similar to Fall (I failed to mention this in the second half of September blog but seeing fall foliage was beautiful as well:;). Now back to the snow, I felt like I was in a winter wonderland and transported to maybe the North Pole haha it was just so beautiful. Later on in the month snow became more of a hassle if anything as it dried up and returned to normal, making the environment cold and windy which was not ideal when commuting to class by walking. Anyways! 1 more month left of my study abroad journey before I go home! See you all in December!Ā
